Cannon Beach is on the northern Oregon coast, only about 90 minutes drive from Portland. The beach itself is sometimes rated as one of the best in the world, and the beach's famed Haystack Rock is probably the most photographed feature of the coast.
The town of Cannon Beach is quite different from its much larger neighbor to the north, Seaside. Cannon Beach gives the appearance of a quaint, sophisticated, artsy little town while the larger Seaside is much more conventional and commercial. Both are actually nice towns, just very different.
